Lee heads up our lifesciences area. He works closely with clients on their intellectual property strategy in a range of industries outside of this area as well.
With over 25 years of experience, Lee is a well recognized expert in intellectual property strategy, particularly in the life sciences arena. His work has spanned all aspects of intellectual property strategy relevant in this field, including patent procurement, defense, licensing, regulatory interplay and litigation strategy. Lee’s particular expertise lies in licensing and lifecycle management, including generic defense strategies and he has given numerous public presentations, including at the prestigious BIO event.
Lee is registered before the European, United Kingdom and United States Patent Offices. Lee has worked internationally for major global companies including Glaxo, Sanofi-Aventis, Takeda and, most recently, Abbott, where he held the positions of Division Vice President of Global IP Strategy and Global Head of Pharmaceutical Patents.
Lee led an IP due diligence review and supported negotiations for the $3.5 billion purchase by Abbott of Kos Pharmaceuticals. He also managed licensing and lifecycle groups responsible for all IP support for in- and out-licensing of technology and products for the US Division of Aventis.
Lee was responsible for developing the in-house IP departments at Aventis and Takeda from the ground up and has mentored many US and European Patent Attorneys. As European Patents Head at Takeda Pharmaceuticals, Lee managed all aspects of building a new European Patent Department in London.
